We played our first away game of the season at Saffron Walden in glorious sunshine. We won the toss and elected to bat. We made a solid start and managed to add steady runs without losing too many early wickets. After 13 overs we had seven players still to bat. At this point we started to play our shots and also started to take risks. As a result we lost wickets quickly but our efforts to play as a team allowed us to reach a respectable total of 108 for 9. Players could have played to stay in but we needed to score runs quickly. This was a good score against a very good bowling outfit!
Our bowling and fielding before this game had been mixed so we needed to improve on this to stand a chance of winning the match. Throughout the innings we did bowl and field well and managed to take wickets at regulsr intervals. After 19 overs Saffron Walden needed only 4 runs to win and we needed 2 more wickets. What transpired during this last over will I’m sure become the highlight of the season. After 5 very accurate balls bowled by Huthayfa the home team still needed the four runs but only had one wicket. The ball was bowled and for this game luck was on our side and we managed to get a run out to win the game.
It was an amazing match to watch and for our players I’m sure an amazing but perhaps a very nervous game to play. I was again so proud and impressed with how we conducted ourselves on and off the pitch!

Sam - Becoming a very good all rounder and continue to make excellent progress
Elliot - Some lovely shots played and we just need to watch that straight one. Excellent captaincy which was tested at the end
Rupesh - The extra height gained over the summer has given Rupesh the extra strength to hit the ball very hard. Good shot selection and showed a great attitide to bowl an over at the end.
Charlie - Very strong keeping with no byes conceded during his 10 overs.
Aryan - I was pleased that Aryan got some batting time. Bowling again was fast and accurate. Are you really only 9 yrs old???
Rhys - A nervous first over but showed a great attitude and never gave up. I was so impressed with Rhys during this game.
Zach - A great team player today. Tried to score quickly but for this game it was not to be. I appreciate the selfless attitude you showed.
Huthayfa - His two overs at the end showed a real maturity and bravery above his years. Just brilliant!
Ibby - Fast becoming a very reliable bowler. Fast and very accurate and almost got himself a hat trick!
Sujey - So impressed with Sujey as it was obvious he had put time and effort into extra bowling practice outside of training. It showed and you deserved your wicket. Batting looked good also!
Ties - Excellent fielding today which saved many runs for the team.
