A tough game to start with

I was very proud of my team today. For many of them it would have been their first game of cricket for almost 8 months. Many of St Giles have probably had the opportunity to do winter nets and were therefore ready for tonight. I was pleased to see the team playing cricket with the correct attitude and supporting each other throughout a tough game. We were at times a little slow and we did forget some basics like backing up when fielders are throwing at the stumps. This of course will get better through training and match practice!
I was pleased to see us bat through our overs which not all teams against St Giles will do this year.

Individual feedback
Elliot - Played his first game for CCC and also captained the team. Some great fielding tonight and we are all pleased that you have joined our club!
Rupesh - Excellent forward defence tonight which shows you have been practicing over the winter
Sam - Great bowling tonight and you were unlucky not to get a wicket. Good pace against top players.
Charlie - Good keeping in tricky wet conditions early on. Unlucky with the run out, that’s cricket I’m afraid!
Zach - Excellent bowling during the warm which shows real progress. A great batting performance against at times some fierce bowling.
Aryan - Great bowling which would have given you a lbw decision at an older rules level. Looking forward to watching you bat next time.
Max - Excellent 2nd over of bowling tonight once you had warmed up a little.
Huthayfa - Very impressive defensive batting performance tonight. You showed that you are not just a big hitter.
Rhys - Lovely variation when bowling. Two well thought out overs!
Sujey - I was very impressed to see how you were warming up and getting ready to bat tonight. You will have a chance to put that practice into a game soon!
Ibby - Best bowler tonight. Bowling with real pace at times.
Ties - Well done tonight being our sub. An excellent attitude shown which will be rewarded with games when you have done more training!

Man of match - Zach

Please try to come to training on Fridays as all of you would benefit from playing as much cricket as possible. We were a little rusty at times and we need to be ready for our next game in a few weeks time. Selection for future teams may take training attendance into account.
