Good effort from Cambourne 3rd XI today against Harlton CC at Lower Cambourne.

We batted first after winning the toss and scored 174–9 from 40 overs. Ruthra batted really well for 48, supported by Akileswaran with 27, Sajid with 19 and Martin finishing not out on 19.

With the ball, we kept fighting and took the game close. Zuraiz picked up 2 wickets, with Himanshu, Ruthra, Martin, Aftab and Ghazanfar taking one each. Himanshu and Ruthra bowled especially tight spells.

Harlton eventually chased it down in 38.4 overs, finishing 175–7 and winning by 3 wickets. We still picked up 7 bonus points and stayed in the game until the end.

Plenty of positives, but one clear area to improve is our fielding — sharper ground fielding, cleaner catching and saving those extra runs will make a big difference in close games.
