March town is a good batting unit so it wasn't a surprise when the opted to bat after winning the toss. Last time Cambourne played with March town, James T ran through their middle batting order (6 wickets for 23 in 4.3 overs http://cambournecc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3011165) but this time, it seemed that they had enforced their batting line a bit more. March town batsmen kept on finding the boundaries at regular intervals and even when Cambourne was able to partnerships, new batsmen kept on scoring runs. March town finished at 234/8. Of these 8 wickets, one was taken by Callum where Paul D fielding at mid-off using all his experience moved a fielder(ATM) to short point and then murmured something in Callum's ear who apparently was able to follow the instructions and batsman was caught by the very same fielder.
Even when Cambourne's wicket is usually quite good for batting, 234 still looked like a good total. TK & Humberto and opened the batting and looked quite positive and aggressive in their approach specially Humberto who scored 35 off 3 overs of one of the opening bowler which included a majestic six over covers. March town's first change bowler was James Harradine who looked quite canny and smart. With TK(31) & Humberto(42) back in the pavilion, Paul D was promoted up the batting order to mitigate that spinner with the hope to keep the wicket intact until later time where the likes of Syed & Liam can come in and accelerate. This got Paul D & Obaid on the crease in 15th over when Cambourne scorecard read 83/2. This partnership was a treat to watch specially Paul D's inning's which oozed class, confidence & absolutely brilliant shot making. Obaid got out on 56 but Paul D went on to make 74* and fittingly hit the winning boundry in 36th over to end the match.
