CAMBOURNE UNDER 15'S WIN AT LITTLEPORT

A second wicket stand of 99 by Harry Mills and Nik Patel was the cornerstone of this defeat of Littleport by 40 runs. Following the early departure of Ollie Vale, Mills and Patel forged a terrific partnership of high quality batting. Quick singles became difficult for Patel following a hit on the inner thigh, and requested a runner to continue his innings. The runner proved no obstacle, as Cambourne charged to a total of 124 in their alloted overs. Mills and Patel were finally out at the late stage of the innings for 39 and 68 repectively.

Extra Training Session Pays Off for U14

Under 14 Tuesday 17th June Cambourne V Cottenham

CAMBOURNE WIN BY 34 RUNS

This game had a serious 'pendulum' feel to it most of the evening. Cambourne won the toss and decided to bat. Before we knew it Cambourne were 2 wickets down for 24 runs, then 3 wickets for 30. Dan Threadgold ,before the game, had discussed his recent poor batting form with his co-captain and decided he should drop down to five in the batting order. Dan came in and let Nik Patel play his strokes to keep the score ticking along, but it was too long that Nik also went, but for a creative 20. The scoring slowed considerably, but Dan had stopped the 'rot', by sneaking the odd one here and there, as he was assisted by Sean Herbert and Lewis Miller. Dan, finally went for a sensible 23. Abhi Sharma came in for the last two overs and hit an additional 9 vital runs to push the overall score to 89.

U14 Brought Back Down to Earth by an Impressive Granta Side

The under 14 winning streak came to an abrupt end last night as we were trounced by a spectacular Granta side. For me their batting was a delight to see, although it did hurt me and the boys in the easy way (but professional) they picked up their runs. They batted first, and there must have been at least 4x sixes planted to mid wicket from balls which were maybe a little short, but very straight-and looking for a little bit of solace, if the batsmen had missed these they would clearly have been LBW.

Patel and Vale Steer U15 to Impressive Win

Cambourne under 15 cruised to a 98 run victory on Monday evening against Longstanton Grasshoppers under 15. It has to be said Longstanton done well to keep the match on with showers preceding the match all day. Cambourne started the match precariously with three wickets being lost before they could get to 30 runs. The effervescent skipper-Ollie Vale-again led the way, and held the batting together with 45. Nik Patel came in at number 5 and immediately made an impact, and within no time he was on his way to a half century-he finished with 59. The last few overs saw a partnership of 42 runs between George Haworth and Ali Sales, scoring 27 and 16 respectively, and completed the Cambourne score at a total of 168. Longstanton could only muster a score of 70 all out, with Kuda Zhandrie taking 2 wickets for 6 runs.

Cambourne U15's, Lose out in close match Vs OVER U15's

A very good performance ends in dismay for cambourne U15's. Cambourne batted first, and posted a Reasonably good total of 92 for 7 After there 20 Overs. Ollie Vale (22) and harry Mills (15) got the ball rolling with a really good opening partnership, after a small mid-order collapse, Dan threadgold came in and performed well, sticking around to score a few more vital runs before the end.

Cambourne U15's came out to feild and had a mixed bag, some overs being very expensive, and the next being a wicket maiden. Alistair Westwood was the pick of the bowlers with his 3 wickets.

Unfortunatly, Over managed to limp over the line in the penultimate over, for the loss of 7 Wickets. A well fought match by the U15's, who Played Brilliantly to get themself back into the game. Click on Read More for a full scorecard.
