Winter Nets Now On Saturdays

Just a reminder that nets will not be on tonight as they have been since the start of the New Year. From this coming Saturday until mid April, they will instead take place every Saturday between 11am and 1pm.

Remember that as its a Saturday, you will need to pay a small car parking fee on and around Gresham Road so try and share lifts as much as possible. And if you are a passenger, make sure you offer to pay the driver for the parking charge.

2 Hour Slot for Winter Nets

Another reminder that nets begin tonight at Fenners in Cambridge 7pm -9pm. It looks like there is not enough interest from Colts to justify giving them a whole hour each week, so instead of cancelling the first hour we are going to trial a full 2 hour / 3 net slot for adults each week, only isolating a single net for U14s if and when required. This will mean we will need an average of 14 adults turning up each week to cover the costs, so if we are struggling we will have to cancel the first hour booking.

Nets Tonight Are Cancelled

Due to the worsening weather conditions in Cambridge this afternoon, we have decided to cancel tonights nets session at Fenners. Apologies for anyone still intending to come, we will try again next Thursday when hopefully getting there will be easier.

2010 Winter Nets Begin Thursday 7th January

Winter Nets begin from this Thursday, the 7th January at the world class indoor facility at Fenners, Cambridge (Gresham Road, free parking in the evenings) and will continue every Thursday thereafter until March from 7pm - 9pm.  All are welcome, including colts who will be given priority in the first hour, and it is a good chance to stay in touch socially whilst giving you the opportunity to work on your skills for the next season.

Tanders Passes Level 2 Coaching Exam

Mark T

Please join me in congratulating our head coach Mark Tandy who passed his Level 2 coaching examination at the weekend. Its a great personal achievement for him, but also a vital for the club as a level 2 coach is a mandatory requirement for all Clubmark certified clubs. If you are interested in getting a coaching qualification yourself then please speak to Mark who will be able to advise of when the next course is.

Winter Nets now only £3

Please note that indoor nets are still ongoing at Fenners; 7pm - 8.30pm for U15s and 8.30pm - 10pm for adults. Attendance has been pretty good but would be great to see a few more faces. As an added incentive, it has been agreed by the committee that from this week onwards, the cost of nets be reduced to £3 per session, which is great value.

2008/2009 Winter Nets Begin Tuesday 6th October

Winter Nets restart at the world class indoor facility at Fenners, Cambridge (Gresham Road, free parking in the evenings) begin from this Tuesday, the 6th October and will continue every Tuesday thereafter until Christmas from 8pm - 9pm.  After Christmas we have more sessions booked to take us up to the start of the 2010 season. All are welcome, including colts, and it is a good chance to stay in touch socially whilst giving you the opportunity to work on your skills for the next season.

Winter Nets

Nets start this Tuesday 21st Oct at Fenners in Cambridge.

This is a fantastic indoor cricket centre and will really allow us to push on over the winter. All welcome and encouraged to attend.

Colts have the nets from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.

There is a training rota for the early session. Please get in contact with me if you would like to be added to it. Any parents who are able to offer lifts please get in touch, it is much appreciated.

PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP WITHOUT TELLING EITHER ME OR CHRIS THREADGOLD.

Thank you to Femi

On behalf of the club, I'd like to pass on thanks to Femi Akinsanya the District Athletics Coach who gave up his time last night to demonstrate some excellent training drills aimed at developing our reactions and explosive power. We learnt a lot and I'm sure we will replicate the drills at many training sessions in the future. For those of you that didn't get a chance to meet Femi, he is currently the World Masters (35-40 years) indoor triple jump champion and Commonwealth Games finalist in 1998 and works as the scssp full-time athletics coach.

Those of you there last night will have also have noticed the BBC2 cameras filming us play a bit of cricket in the sun. This is for a new documentary series called "Britain From Above" which is looking at how the landscape of Britain's countryside and urban areas are changing over the last century, Cambourne obviously being a good example of a modern community. The series will begin soon and our episode will most likely be aired some time in September.

Whites At Training Tonight

Late notice, but can everyone please wear their whites at training tonight. We can't reveal why as yet but its worth coming along to find out! In addition to this, we also have a new kit supplier with some club logo embroidered kit samples (orders can also be taken) and we have the District Athletics coach coming along to take us through some fitness and reaction training drills. Exciting stuff!
