Cake walk for 1sts in winning start to season

Saturday bought sunshine over the Lower Cambourne Ground where the 1st XI were ready to get another league campaign underway. They were greeted by a flat looking wicket that was very hard for the first weekend of May. Captain Healy won the toss and elected to bat first to the surprise of the Saffron Walden Skipper.

Thirds start strong with a win over Newport

A thoroughly enjoyable game of cricket at Lower Cambourne saw the 3s start the season in style with a win over Newport, thanks to some solid batting from the colts, and a five-fer for the Pye-man.

The day started inauspiciously, with stand-in skipper Phillip losing the toss and opening bat Val straining his quadriceps in the warm-up. Nevertheless, Val soldiered on, limping for singles and the odd two. With Andrew out for a duck at the other end, it was Callum’s turn to demonstrate to his Dad how to fend off the Newport openers’ attack.

Club Sign-Up Day and Cricket Force - Saturday 18th April 2015

On Saturday 18th April, Cambourne Cricket Club will be hosting a Sign Up day for players, new and old - and a special Cricket Force Day to help prepare the Lower Cambourne pavilion and ground (The Green, Woodfield Lane, CB23 6FD) for the new season.

From 10.30 am, we will be setting to work - clearing up the pavilion and changing rooms and getting the pitch ready for cricket. There's plenty to do - so even if you can only spare an hour, it would be worthwhile! Plans are underway for a barbecue.
