Victory Tastes Sweet for Honey

Cambourne 1st XI finally notched their first win of the season, away at Burrough Green. Whilst Honey Sarao starred with 3 wickets, 30 not out and a run out, this was a team effort with every player making a positive contribution.

Cambourne Slip and Slide to Defeat

Such is the unpredictability of the English summer that after last week's sun drenched match, Cambourne 1sts met Granta 3rd XI in a rain interrupted mud fest. The match began at 2:30pm with agreement to shorten the format to 32 overs. Cambourne were put into bat and Marc Crawford and Chris Cundell continued their good form in seeing Cambourne through the first 10 overs. Cundell was the first to depart for 15, snicking one to the keeper. Paul Darrington followed for a similar score and was out to a similar shot, bringing Tom Elliot to the crease.

The word on the street from Super Ed is “Flight and skill”*™ ..

So could I have asked for any more ? .. just a mere mortal sat in the presence of Super Ed in the Pavilion as he professed the art of “Flight and Skill”*™ in bowling .. Standard Ed (as Ive come to know him in recent times) was really demonstrating why perhaps he should be Super after all .. anyways, off in to the rain I headed, but Standard he still remained ..

Teams For 29th May

Here are the teams for the games this weekend, will all players meet at the pavilion at 12.00 midday. As there is no 2nd team game this weekend, there are a lot of players who have had to miss out so apologies for that.

Danny and Sunil bloom as thirds wilt in the heat

Danny and Sunil’s 40-run middle order partnership was not enough to deliver a win for the thirds, as a string of dropped catches sealed their fate against a solid Histon team.

2nd’s left standing during duel with Fenstanton

Cambourne 2nds looked to extend their unbeaten campaign this weekend but it wasn’t to be as they took on a strong Fenstanton side minus last weeks batting heroes Garratt and White.

Heroic Effort from Crawford and Cundell Pushes Madingley Close

A heroic batting performance from openers Marc Crawford (93) and Chris Cundell (77) in sweltering heat almost gave Cambourne an unlikely victory against Madingley 1st XI. Playing at Girton College, a flat and low wicket with a manicured outfield offered a batsman's paradise. Madingley won the toss and put Cambourne in the field. Daren Cooke made the break through early on with a brilliant outswinger that removed the off stump. The second wicket was a long time coming until Paul Darrington (who bowled ten overs straight) squeezed a delivery through bat / pad onto the stumps.
