Cambourne Cricket Club Wants You!

Cambourne Cricket Club is looking to bring in new players for this season to continue to build on the fantastic growth it has seen over the past 2 years of competitive cricket. Whether it be as a player, umpire, scorer or helper, the club is fully inclusive of all genders, races and ages and puts an emphasis on having fun over everything else. We are a friendly and welcoming club and as we are relatively new, there are no decade long cliques for newcomers to break into. Don't take our word for it though, here are the thoughts of 2 players who are now a part the club:

“Cambourne CC is a friendly inclusive club where all are made welcome regardless of ability. I've been with the club since its early days and have been encouraged to get involved in all areas from playing (for the 2nd Xl) to writing articles for the local news papers - most of which have been published! I really enjoy the camaraderie here - come and join us and see for yourself.”
Rishi Sharma - U18s

“I was given a positive and friendly welcome to a community-based club, which evidently has the enthusiasm and vision to develop itself both on and off the field, but also to improve the ability and enjoyment of all its players - regardless of their age or experience.”
Neil Thompson – Left Arm Slinger

What standard of players are you looking for?
Cambourne will be running 3 senior teams and 2 junior teams in 2008 and will therefore cater for all standards of cricketer. Whether you are the next Freddie Flintoff or simply want to play socially, Cambourne CC will be able to offer you the standard of cricket you want. We have trained coaches attending nearly all our training sessions so you can be sure that your cricketing skills will improve as the season goes on.

I haven't got any kit, is that a problem?
Not at all, Cambourne are in the processes of adding even more equipment to their club kitbag and so you will be able to find and use equipment of reasonable quality. We strongly recommend you bring your own box however as anyone whos used a communal box from the kitbag will tell you!

I can't commit to playing every weekend, will I still get a game?
Nearly all our members (with a few notable exceptions) miss the odd weekend and many can only play a few weekends a season. If you can't play every weekend then you might not be picked for the 1st team but there may well be a space in one of the other teams so don't let this stop you getting involved. A large pool of potential players to pick from is healthy for any cricket club.
