Poor Display, With A few Bright spots

statoo writes, "Elmdon cricket club made the journey to visit Cambourne 2nd xi in search of a win. Sunil the captain who won the toss and elected to bat, unfortunately on a damp wicket in search of a decent total. The two openers Michael I and Greg B had a dodgy start with Greg’s wicket falling early and that saw the arrival of Simon W. With some wise words of wisdom Michael and Simon began to build a partnership with some solid defensive shots and some aggressive hook shots. But this was short lasted as Michael got out and in came Ollie V. Soon after Simon’s wicket fell to a very good delivery and this saw the arrival of Ashley H. Chris C arrived at the wicket and stuck around and batted well. But soon after saw the arrival of Chris G and Rishi S who added more to the total. Ashley batted unselfishly for some overs, as the wickets continued to fall. Suddenly with some splendid batting from Ali W, Cambourne were all out. They had achieved a score of 50 odd with the clouds approaching.

Elmdon came into bat with a required total of only 50 something. They started to chip away at Cambourne lead immediately. Only the 4 bowlers were used with some awesome bowling from Chris C and Marshall K. Chris took 3 wickets with two stunning catches behind on Michaels keeping debut. Plus Marshalls fast in swingers working for him knocking the stumps out of the ground. Unfortunately the score was met as the rain arrived. With some good fielding and a good catch from Marshall, the game ended on a low. A disappointment for Cambourne but with more experience under their belt we will do better next time.

Man Of The Match: Micheal Ingle, For and inspired perfomance behind the stumps. taking two catches, the first of which was a tough on handed take down the legside off the glove.

Chris and Mike .
